A squad of socialist-party activists and skinheads led by MP Boris Tsvetkov (Bulgarian Socialist Party) has tried to storm the building of Sofia University which is occupied by its students since Thursday, October 24.
The group has tried to forcefully enter the entries to the building, occupied by its students three days ago with request for government resign and new elections.
The police was present but inactive.
The main activists of the group were other young BSP activists. The presence of skinheads and non-students within the group has also exposed the governing Socialists’ unholy alliance with the ultra-nationalist, anti-EU and xenophobic Ataka party.
ON THIS LINK you can see the video of the unsuccessful attempt to storm the occupation.
According to Hristo Mitafchiev, Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Actors, theaters in Sofia are expected to go on strike and stop working in support of students! For now two of the leading theaters in Bulgaria’s capital have announced their decision to read the declaration in support of the SU students before their performances.
In a special declaration the students at Sofia University building asked people who support them and the anti-government protests to gather in front of the main building of the university at 18:00 Bulgarian time.
